Audio Bible Catalog Grows with Five New Languages

Faith Comes By Hearing, the world’s premier Audio Bible ministry, announces the availability of five new Audio New Testament Recordings.

The following languages are now available for free MP3 download: Ditammari, Malto, Quechua Lambayeque, Tzeltal Bachajon and Urhobo.  These five languages are primarily spoken in the countries of Benin, India, Peru, Mexico and Nigeria.  From the ministry website internet users can download these and any of Faith Comes By Hearing’s other Audio Bible recordings.

These new offerings bring the total number of Audio Scriptures available to 334 recordings in 283 languages, reaching 4.3 billion people in more than 90 countries worldwide.  Faith Comes By Hearing’s goal is to record Audio Bibles in 2,000 languages by the year 2016, reaching 97% of the world’s population. 

“The world’s oral majority doesn’t have access to God’s Word,” said Jon D. Wilke, organizational spokesperson, “but by recording the New Testament in their heart language, they can hear the messages of hope and truth contained in the Word of God.”

Since the non-profit, Albuquerque-based ministry was founded in 1972, it has been diligently working to share God’s Word with illiterate and underdeveloped communities around the world.  By using the latest digital technologies, Faith Comes By Hearing has been able to develop ministry tools that make God’s Word accessible to those with the least access. 

“With the release of these new recordings, like-minded partners and indigenous pastors can use Audio Bibles on Proclaimers, to disciple people in their native language,” said Wilke.

The Proclaimer is a self-powered audio player that can be used in the most remote and rugged locations and is pre-loaded with the New Testament on an embedded microchip.  Indigenous missionaries take these Proclaimers into villages and communities around the world and start listening groups.  Villagers in groups up to 300 gather around a Proclaimer to listen and then discuss what they just heard. 

“Through the process of hearing God’s Word, lives are transformed.  The testimonies are just incredible,” said Wilke.
